JV Grizzlies spike Del Oro in league opener
Staff Report

Finishing off the second game in a flurry of activity, the Granite Bay High junior varsity boys volleyball team started off its league season with a two-game sweep of Del Oro.

Bryan Berry, Kyle Cady and Travis Vincenzini led the early effort with strong work from the service line in game one. That, combined with the formidable front wall that featured Berry and Robert Bell allowed the Grizzlies to win the first game 25-18.

Game two was a tight affair, at least until it reached 18-15, but then Granite Bay took over and closed out the JV Eagles. The standout serving and hitting of Carson Odegard, the blocking of Jordon Long and Jake Neptune and a timely Matt Austin kill put the second stanza, and the match, into the Grizzly win column 25-17.
