City needs fire break protection
Reader Input

During the last week, there were two suspicious brush fires in west Roseville. Both occurred in the area where the housing development of Sierra Vista is proposed.

The first one was contained quickly and appeared not to threaten residents or their homes.

The second one last Friday (Aug. 20), consumed 434 acres before being brought under control. Several residents were evacuated as their homes were in the pathway of this extremely dangerous fire. Thankfully, it was only fences damaged this time around.

Since west Roseville residents are surrounded by tinderbox conditions, would the fire department consider performing a controlled burn to create a fire-break around the remaining neighborhoods in this area?

I hope the two incidents were random accidents but the situation has raised concerns among the west Roseville residents.
