Name won’t be used

Recent letters in the Press-Tribune (Aug. 4 and 11) have raised questions about the name of a new planning area within the City of Roseville and the possibility of confusion with an existing Roseville neighborhood that shares the same name. Concerns were raised about the name earlier this year at the end of the City’s review of the Sierra Vista Specific Plan Area in west Roseville. The Planning Commission considered this testimony and asked city staff and the developers to address this issue. As a result, the city and the developers agreed that the “Sierra Vista” name wouldn’t be used to identify any neighborhood or street in the plan area. This will ensure that there is only one neighborhood in Roseville known as Sierra Vista. We appreciate those residents who brought this matter to the City’s attention. Paul Richardson, City of Roseville planning director
