By George! Boxing champ Foreman coming to Roseville
Nathan Donato-Weinstein

Two-time world heavyweight champ and healthy eating guru George Foreman

Foreman is slated to visit Roseville next week as part of a nationwide tour promoting UFood Grill.

Foreman will host a number of events at the restaurant’s Roseville location May 16, including a nutritious meal for schoolchildren and an autograph signing, according to a news release. Foreman, 59, will also meet with local officials and shoot a TV commercial during his daylong visit.

The UFood-Foreman alliance was announced in January, with the company touting a “match made in healthy-eating heaven.”

UFood, the brainchild of Boston Market founder George Naddaff, is known for a menu designed to put a healthy twist on American standards such as burgers, chili and sandwiches. Its UnFries, a version of the snack favorite that’s baked, not fried, is one of its signature items.

Shane and Wendi Vogel, along with John and Tami Peed, opened the Roseville location – the chain’s first West Coast outpost – in September, 2007.

In addition to his boxing prowess, Foreman is known for his famous namesake grill. But there’s more to him than boxing and eating. He’s also a motivational speaker, author, youth center founder and ordained minister. Foreman and his family are also the subject of a TV Land reality series to debut in July.

According to the news release, Foreman’s UFood menu favorites include the Bison Burger, the Tomato Fresca Signature Sandwich and UnFries.

In his Roseville visit, Foreman will host a lunch with students from St. John’s School to show them the value of healthy eating choices.

UFood Grill is located in the Nugget shopping center at 721 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Suite 150.

Ufood grill is great.

Foreman's pretty funny, too. But somehow, I think of Jack LaLanne, not George Foreman when I think about Ufood grill.
