John Mayer Concert in Wheatland
The lights dimmed and the concert stage was only lit from the stars above. Then the first drumbeats from the hit song, Waiting On The World To Change, saturated the humid summer air. The crowd at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Wheatland went crazy for John Mayer at his concert performance on July 25, 2008. The concert opened with Brett Dennen and Colbie Caillat, who were both wonderful, but it was when John Mayer, with his new short haircut, entered the stage that the night really began to heat up. The audience seemed to know almost ever lyric he sang. His personality was vivid on the stage but it was his obvious passion for music that made this concert phenomenal. John Mayer’s impressive voice aside, his guitar playing invigorated an already energized audience. All though there are several live concert CD’s by John Mayer, nothing beats seeing and hearing him in concert. The acoustics at the concert venue were clear and crisp. What a pleasant surprise it was to find that so close to our beloved town of Lincoln, California, sits a beautiful amphitheater that was clean, comfortable and a perfect venue for even the biggest of music’s stars.
