This month’s Sons in Retirement, or SIRS meeting Thursday at the Elks Lodge in Auburn, included delicious food, lots of laughs and fellowship and an informational speaker. On the schedule this month, was Auburn Journal's motoring editor, Andrew DiLuccia, who gave an interesting talk on the future of the Hybrid automobile.
SIRS is group of retired men age 55 and up. This specific SIRS group, branch 37, includes 190 members, a few of which are 100-years-young. "One of the principal areas of SIRS concerns itself with the well being, youth and happiness of the retired man.” SIRS meet at the Elks Lodge on the first Thursday of the month. Anyone who is interested in becoming a member is invited to be a guest at one their monthly meetings. There are no dues and no initiation fees.
