Charlie Brown, put your money where your mouth is.
Posted by: winston_niles

Charlie Brown's hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Charlie has spent most of his campaign leveling false accusations at Tom McClintock, using distortions and outright lies to try to deceive 4th District voters. All along the way, Charlie has bragged incessantly of his own "honor."

Charlie was quick to say that "elected officials are guardians of the public trust, and must be above any perception of wrongdoing," back in 2006, when he had no skin in the game.

Now that he's taken money from two of the most powerful, highly partisan Democrats in the nation, Charlie is practicing situational ethics. Nancy Pelosi gave $12,000 to Charlie Brown, and Charlie Rangel gave $11,500.

Turns out Congressional life is full of deep and treacherous waters. Charlie hasn't gotten within 3,000 miles of Congress, and he's already in over his head.

Now that evidence mounts that House Speaker Pelosi directed almost $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband's business, Charlie has nothing to say, and he's hanging on to her contribution. Is he afraid of offending the most powerful woman in Congress, by returning her money? Or has he already spent her money, to run ads and mailers containing outright lies about Tom McClintock?

Either way, all this talk of "honor" has a hollow sound.

And how about the money Charlie Rangel gave to Charlie Brown's campaign? Rangel is one of the most partisan Democrats in Congress, and Chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. Now under the scrutiny of three separate ethics investigations, members of his own party are distancing themselves from him, with Democrats calling for his resignation, and returning the dirty money they received from him.

Newspaper editorial boards all across the country have called on Rangel to resign and for Democratic candidates to give back his contributions. Charlie Brown's response? Dead silence, and yes, he's hanging onto the $11,500 Rangel gave him.

Patriotism above partisanship? Above any perception of wrongdoing? Honor? Talk is cheap, Charlie.

So 4th District voters have two choices. The man described above, or Tom McClintock - a fiscal conservative who has earned a legendary reputation as an ethical legislator. While columnists call for Rangel's resignation, and urge Democrats to return his dirty money, how do they describe Tom?

The "ever-principled McClintock."

"Winston Niles Rumfoord had run his private space ship right into the heart of an uncharted chrono-synclastic infundibulum two days out of Mars. Only his dog had been along. Now Winston Niles Rumfoord and his dog Kazak existed as wave phenomena—apparently pulsing in a distorted spiral with its origin in the Sun and its terminal in Betelgeuse.

The earth was about to intercept that spiral. "

Can't wait to see where those last minute independent expenditures are going to be coming from after seeing McClintock trying to pass off paying his campaign consultants and spokespersons as "charity donations."

Let me make an educated guess. NOT from within the district, and layered up so one would at first never expect they're from the usual sources McClintock has always defaulted to...
